Hi -
I am interested in knowing whether this script can run optimally on a shared server or needs dedicated resources. Also, is this dependent on the number of products we include? Thank you!
Plenty of users do run Price Tapestry on a shared server.
The only problems you are likely to encounter would be timeout issues if your host has limited PHP to 30 seconds and you want to import a large feed. There's information and advice for handling this in the following thread:
You are also right about it being related to the number of products you include; as very occasionally there has been an issue where a site gets crawled aggressively by a search engine, and the effect of requesting hundreds of thousands of products takes you over your MySQL limits (if your host has one configured). If this happens, again contacting your host should resolve the issue if they are preated to remove the MySQL max queries (per hour) restriction on your account.
It's very rare for this to be a problem though, many users (in fact the vast majority I would have thought) are running Price Tapestry on shared hosting accounts with no problem at all.

Hope this helps!
