Hi, I am new to PTA. I just managed to get the installation out of the way and now I have no idea how to do the feed part. Where can i get feeds from or any other help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
The "big players" for the Benelux are:
-Daisycon
-Zanox
-Tradedoubler
-Tradetracker
-Affilinet
-Webgains
-M4N
-Cleafs
All of them actually operate also on other countries.

Hi David,
Thanks for getting back. I am in the UK and yes, its more like a price comparison website :)
Cheers!
Hi shams,
The UK has lots of great affiliate networks including Affiliate Window which would be a good place to start. Once joined and signed up to at least one merchant you'll have access to the "Create-a-feed" area of the publishers (affiliate) admin interface, where you can follow the prompts to create a feed URL either for a specific merchant, or by category, which is great if you want to create a niche comparison site.
After selecting the required fields. the Create-a-feed tool generates the datafeed URL for you. Create-a-feed defaults to gzip compression, but if you're using Windows change this to "Zip", and then the easiest way to get started would be to paste the URL into your browser which should then prompt you to save the file to your local computer. Once downloaded, unzip, and then use your FTP program to upload the unzipped feed to the /feeds/ folder of your Price Tapestry installation, and then pick up the feed registration and import instructions from here.
Once up and running, you can bypass the downloading to your local computer step by using the Automation Tool to fetch, unzip, and save the feed in your /feeds/ folder automatically, which will then be run as part of your CRON process, but that can all come later...!
Hope this helps! I will shortly be posting a series of how to videos documenting the entire process from concept to fully populated price comparison site for an example niche, so I'll flag to let you know once these are online....
Cheers,
David.

Hi, thank you for giving Price Tapestry a go and welcome to the forum!
The script is designed to be used with affiliate product feeds (also referred to as datafeeds). These are text files that contain a list of products, prices, your affiliate links and other data (e.g. image URLs, category etc.) for the products sold by a particular merchant. You would normally obtain the feeds via the affiliate network that manages the affiliate program for that merchant. Some merchants operate their affiliate programs in-house and provide a feed directly.
You'll find a list of some networks and details of how to access feeds for their merchants on this page, but perhaps if you'd like to let us know what country you are in, and whether you are looking to create a comparison site for a particular niche I'll try and point you in the direction of a network in your country that provides feeds and help get you started...
Cheers,
David.
