Rename Columns for Global Fitlers

Submitted by gregor on Sun, 2012-09-23 15:01 in

I have many global filters that could be applied across multiple feeds, but the column names are not the same from one feed to the next. For example, ProductName is the same thing as Product Name, but I can't run the same filter against both. I can copy the filters and change the column names, but I think that would mean running the same filter multiple times. My first thought was to add a list of column names to the filters, so instead of filtering on ProductName I would filter on (ProductName|Product Name) - or something like that. But I think that would cause multiple filter execution too. ?? So now I'm wondering if there is a way that we could add a new type of global filter that would change the column names in the feed? Maybe it's a global filter or maybe it's some type of mapping somewhere, but it would let me change the names so that all global filters could be truly global. If we change the column names, then I assume we would need to remap the feed and change any other filters to use the new names. Maybe a column alias would be better for this reason? Anyway, what do you think?

Thanks,
Gregor

Hi Gregor,

Global Filters apply to the mapped fields rather than specific feed field names - so you can create a global filter against Product Name and that will apply regardless of what different field names your merchants use...

Cheers,
David.
