Product mapping

Submitted by JasonG on Fri, 2011-11-18 10:17 in

Hi

I have asked a similar question before so apologies, I am trying to find a way to speed up mapping of products, with so many products in our database (over 22k) it will take forever to map products sold via multiple merchants. I know you have looked at ways to automate this before but due to different naming conventions etc it is incredibly hard, if not impossble

Do you have any tips/scripts to speed up the process in anyway?

Thanks
Stuart

Hi Stuart,

Unfortunately not i'm afraid - whilst something that's very straight forward for a human to do it's almost impossible to programmatically assert that two items are the same. I have looked at methods involving similar pricing (to get around things like the accessory issue where, for example, a stand for a TV includes the TV brand and model number in the name). Product mapping is really intended for niche sites where the number of products involved is manageable.

Cheers,
David.
