Dixons Tradedoubler feed problem

Submitted by PHILDARV on Thu, 2006-08-24 15:33 in

I've been racking my brain on how to do this one, but cant figure it out.

In the Dixons Tradedoubler feed they have "In-Car GPS Navigation System" as the product name and in additional column data they have "Manufacturer: TomTom; Model: GO 910; Shipping Price: 0.00" etc

What i need is "TomTom Go 910" in the Product name field

I cant search and replace "In-Car GPS Navigation System" as there are 3 models of TomTom all having this as the product name

Any ideas

Thanks

Phillip

Hi Phillip,

A lot would depend upon the contents of other fields; but as a first try I would register the additional info column as the Product Name, then setup a series of filters on the Product Name as follows:

1) Search and Replace, Find ":", Replace with "" (empty)

2) Search and Replace, Find ";", Replace with "" (empty)

3) Search and Replace, Find "Manufacturer", Replace with "" (empty)

4) Search and Replace, Find "Model", Replace with "" (empty)

5) Search and Replace, Find "Shipping Price", Replace with "" (empty)

6) Search and Replace, Find "0.00", Replace with "" (empty)

7) Trim

This doesn't look like a very well thought out feed i'm afraid. It might not hurt to contact the merchant / network and raise the issue as it just doesn't make sense to have what is really a descriptive category in the product name field!

Hope this helps,
David.

I'm experiencing a similar problem with the Dixons and Currys feed on Tradedoubler. Essentially I want the product name to be Manufacturer Model as with the other feeds I'm using. So you end with some like JVC 12345.

I've tried the suggestion above but end up with extra dashed in the url e.g. HP--PSC-2355--000.html which then don't click through to a full details page. Any ideas or suggestion as to handling the Dixons / Currys feeds.

Hi,

Can you post an example of what is currently in the field that you are trying to extract the manufacturer and model from and i'll take a look...

Cheers,
David.
