Product Feed Not Importing Properly

Submitted by Nick on Wed, 2011-09-07 11:46 in

I am having problems with a feed and am wondering if anyone has any idea's?

I tested it on the Magic Parser online demo, and it also seems to only pull out 105 records from the feed - even though there is much more than 105 records.

Would this be a UTF-8 encoding error of some sort? A sample of the feed:

I tried setting a Filter to encode the Name and Description fields, no luck. The only thing that differentiates this feed from my others is that it has CDATA in it. The rest of the 30-40odd feeds seem to work fine, just this one.

Any idea's/pointers in the right direction perhaps?

Hi Nick,

Yes, when a feed aborts much earlier than the expected number of records it is most likely a character encoding error; which of course breaks the file structure and it's not possible to (reliably parse) beyond that point - although the tolerance of this is dependant upon the version of the XML libraries installed alongside your PHP installation.

I'll email you the cleansing versions of Magic Parser to try, which remove any encoding errors inline and should enable the entire feed to be imported...

Cheers,
David.
