Question about maintenance

Submitted by haggle on Tue, 2010-07-20 13:01 in

Dave,

On my site the product "Viewbook vnb107 Laptop" has been replaced by "Viewbook vnb108 Laptop".

Now because I get a bit of traffic on "VNB107" how do I make sure that the following link doesn't end up a dead when Google sends traffic?
{link saved}
I don't want to use htaccess.
Is it mapping?
Could you help with this one example?

Kind Regards

Hi,

The related products feature (which I see you are running) should still direct users to the latest versions of the same product. I notice your site currently has both vnb107 and vnb108, so I changed the URL to contain vnb109 (not found) and the related products provide links to the vnb107 and vnb108...

The page also returns 404 so that search engines will not that it has been depreciated; and will of course no longer appear in sitemap.php...

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
David.
