Commission Junction (CJ) Data Feeds

Submitted by Alastair on Thu, 2008-03-06 22:48 in

I signed up with CJ but despite hours scouring their website I can't find out how to get product data feeds suitable for PT. Web Services sounds good but is probably beyond me technically, as I am not a programmer. Other people in this forum have mentioned being able to obtain zip files with product data in them, often from multiple merchants, but all I can find on the www.cj.com website is pages and pages of individual links.

I'd really appreciate any guidance from the old hands on this site. Thank you

Alastair

Hello Alastair,

As I understand it, datafeeds are not freely available from CJ but require a one-time fee (if you are a new account holder without substantial income yet). If you contact CJ support they will be able to point you in the right direction.

Cheeers,

I'll have to think about whether I pay or not! CJ also seem sto have a Web services offering that allows the extraction (free I think) of product catalogues based on supplied parameters. Have any PT users used this at all? (I suspect it is a bit beyond me technically, however)

There's little to no way of knowing how to access commission Junction feeds on CJ. After being signed up with CJ for 3 years I finally found a page on it - although I can't find it now.

Basically if you earn more than $10k in one month from CJ you can have the feeds for free. Alternatively you have to pay a one off fee of $200.

CJ give you various options on how you download the file - frequency, file type, compressed/uncompressed etc etc. This is all done via email. Personally I chose daily downloads, via http (should have chosen ftp), xml, compressed. You have to email them if you want extra feeds added.

Each day I download one zip file - it contains all my individual data feeds in seperate XML files. I unzip the files using code I've pasted elsewhere on this forum, then load them in.

A wee hint on how to get the downloads at zero cost - ARGOS

Hi Jay,

Basically, if you sign up to the Argos programme on CJ, you will get free access to their datafeed. This is also true of Homebase as they are the same company.

There may well be some others but I don't know of any more.

Cheers.

I got my CJ feeds free via the Argos method just in time for Xmas !! You can request the Argos feed after signing up to their program by using the Ask a Question page and once that's up and running just request another 4 of your merchants feeds to be added. They'll send you an email containing a link to the file and give you an id and password so you can access them as a zip file.

Hi

Commission Junction is quite a good network now, compared to what they used to be. Once you've request to be allowed to use datafeeds I'm sent an email of a weekly basis. I use them for Magazine Subscription which is aimed towards the US market, and CJ have a couple of US magazine merchants which helps.

Cheers
