Automatic import from URL

Submitted by Scutter on Thu, 2006-03-16 14:23 in

Hi,

I may have just missed this, but the datafeeds that I using all have URLs from each supplier.
Is there a way to automatically import and register these feeds from a URL???

Thanks in advance

At the moment there is no automated URL retrieval and registration. The procedure is to upload each feed into the /feeds directory and then register the feed manually through the administration interface, however there are the automation scripts that can be used to semi-automate the registration process and to manage your site on an ongoing basis.

In the forthcoming release of Price Tapestry I am including a "plug-in" architecture which will enable me to distribute additional functionality in the form of modules that will not be included in the distribution. One such module will be exactly as you describe - an automated URL retrieval and registration tool. The URL retrieval functionality is already available to "copy and paste" if you wish in the following thread:

Hope this helps!
David.

Cheers, I did find that page once, but lost it - Doh!

Works, fine... now if only I could get the register script to automatically register all the feeds without having a command line???

Have you seen this thread:

It has code to trigger the automation scripts via PHP...
