At present on the product page i have the other items underneath that uses the search function, this tends not to be that great in fetching products that are related to the item shown, would it be possible to show a list of items from the same category on the products page ie if there was a category for plasma TVs, to show a list of these on the product page of a particular plasma TV, not bothered about pics, or descriptions just a list, price and a link to that product.
This would be more targeted that the search option.

As it stands, the "Related Products" will only select products from the same category if there is a category value for the main product. If not, a normal search is used on the main product name.
Can you check that the main product you are looking at is categorised, and if so whether the products displayed are from the same category? If it doesn't look correct, could you possibly email over a link to a page on your site and i'll take a look.
To modify the display will require a new HTML module to be developed as it currently uses the search results display - this should be straight forward, but I would like to make sure that the product selection is working to your satisfaction first...
