Duplicate Category Names

Hi,

I have a problem with my categories.

I've ended up with some identically named categories. For instance I have two seperate categories each named "Vitamin A". They each have different products and different merchants contained within.

Category mapping has not helped any.

How do I fix this?

Hi,

The first thing to suggest is using the trim filter against the category field - as it is possible that the duplicate category names are actually "Vitamin A" and "Vitamin A " (note the space on the end).

If this doesn't help, please feel free to drop me an email with a link to your site and i'll take a look; and it would also help if you could let me know which feeds result in this import - e.g.:

http://www.yoursite.com/feeds/merchant1.xml
http://www.yoursite.com/feeds/merchant2.xml

I'll then download them to my test server and take a look. To email me either reply to your reg code email or forum registration email is the easiest way...

Hi David,

Your right, the merchant had spaces after and before all the pipes in the feed. I actually had a category named "-Vitamin-A/" and "Vitamin-A/".
