Flag subgroup for non-display

Hi David,

The problem is that some feeds include correct categorizations, while many are quite sparse and need lots of / too much work. For some merchants, unless each single product is edited or filtered the output can be difficult to manage. So I am wondering how feasible it would be to set up some merchants as searchable only?

So in other words, some merchants are imported but not included in Merchant;Brand;Category output. The products would only be found through search or using url keyword parameters.

The main reason for excluding them from Merchant;Brand;Category pages would be to maintain navigational structure for the feeds that are structurally good. Incorrect structure can impair both organic and paid search engine performance.

I'm thinking a binary flag (1) could be set on a custom field during import, but then what? Is this concept getting to far outside PriceTapestry's design intent...??? Let me know!

Ken.

Hello Ken,

You could just not register Category / Brand fields on Feed Registration Step 2 for feeds that you do not wish to feature in those indexes. Their products will still be fully searchable and product pages appear as normal, and in sitemaps.

As there is a good chance that Feed Registration Step 2 will auto-select the Category and Brand fields to ensure they are not mapped change the drop down back to "Select field..." and those fields will then not be registered or imported...

Cheers,
David.

Yes, of course. This worked. Thank you David!
