Standard feeds?

Do most online stores publish standard feeds for their products? If so - hwo do I go about obtaining then. For example, where is the Comet product feed online?

Thanks.

Hello Colin,

Unfortunately there is no standard format for product information. A small number of stores publish their own feed (particularly if they supply product information to Froogle); however most online stores operate their affiliate programs using the services of an affiliate network - and it is from the affiliate network that you obtain the product feed.

There are some links to affiliate networks and the URLs you need to download product feeds for their merchants on the following page: http://www.pricetapestry.com/node/76

Comet work with 2 affiliate networks, and you can get their feed from both Affiliate Window and DGM. Taking the Comet example further; you would need to signup with one of those networks as an affiliate; and then join the Comet affiliate program. I'm not familiar with DGM, but with Affiliate Window, having joined the Comet program you can then go to the "Datafeeds" link from the homepage where you will find the information needed to construct a URL that will enable you to download the Comet product feed.

Hope this helps!
Cheers,
David.
