I just wondered if there is a simple way to include the new category hierarchy functionality into a site built on 14_06?

Sure, I'll work out back-port as soon as I've completed a couple of updates I'm working on for the beta but should be straight forward - if you would like to email me categories.php, search.php and includes/tapestry.php from your installation as I know you've made quite a few customisations I'll be able to update those files as soon as it's ready...
