Is this crazy? Color recognition filter

Submitted by sociallyfamous on Tue, 2015-03-17 14:49 in

Hi all. Hi David.

I am sure many of us struggle with the problem of colors not being available for clothing related feeds. Has anyone attempted to auto process the color as a filter for each image somehow?

There is something of that kind happening here http://php.net/manual/en/function.imagecolorat.php

Would that be feasible? Just an idea.

Hi sociallyfamous,

Not entirely crazy, but something that is essentially a very complex image processing operation, not just in terms of identifying which part of the image actually constitutes the product, but then how to resolve the differing values of red/green/blue that would all come under an umbrella colour definition!

However, even if not available as a separate field, if the product name or description contains predictable colour values, have a look at the Scan and Set filter described in this thread which would let you pick out colour values from a product name or description into a custom `colour` field...

Cheers,
David.

I have to try it out. Really cool. Thank you. What's amazing about your project is that there is nothing that has not been already thought of or dealt with. Awesome.
