Hi David,
I imported product feed.
Result after imported:
category: Handset
contents of heandset :
1. Apple iPhone 3G 8GB GSM WiFi Used Smartphone AT&T
2. Apple iPhone 3GS 16GB WiFi Used iOS Smartphone Black AT&T
3. Apple iPhone 4S 16GB 3G WiFi Siri Used Smartphone Verizon
4 BlackBerry 8800 Smartphone Blue No Contract Used Cell Phone AT&T
5. BlackBerry 8130 Used Smartphone US Cellular
etc
I would like to separate them into
Cell Phone: (main category)
A. iPhone 3 : (sub category)
Apple iPhone 3G 8GB GSM WiFi Used Smartphone AT&T, Apple iPhone 3GS 16GB WiFi Used iOS Smartphone Black AT&T
B. iPhone 4 : (sub category)
Apple iPhone 4S 16GB 3G WiFi Siri Used Smartphone Verizon
C. Blackberry : (sub category)
BlackBerry 8800 Smartphone Blue No Contract Used Cell Phone AT&T, BlackBerry 8130 Used Smartphone US Cellular
Would you direct me how to implement this?
Best Rgds,
Martin
Hello Martin,
Price Tapestry doesn't support a category hierarchy which is a concious decision since very few affiliate data feeds provide nested category information. However there is no reason why you cannot add a custom field "subcategory" following the standard instructions in this thread.
With that in place, you can then add "subcategory" as a custom field in Product Mapping based on the instructions in this thread.
So main categories, you would still create in Category Mapping, then once all products in suitable categories then you can create Product Mapping entries for each product that you want to put in a subcategory and enter the subcategory name in the new custom field. Note that you do not need to use the actual Product Mapping feature so you can leave the Alternatives box empty if not required...
Cheers,
David.
