Hi David
In the last 3 days my server had twice problems with high mysql load. As I did not have any problems before, I was wondering if the zero down time mod might be the culprit. What do you think?
Best regards,
IG
Hi David
The zero down-time mod has not been the only change. I have also added some rather heavy feeds and I have installed super cache in the hope to reduce server load.
My hoster is pretty good at solving these kind of issues. Should he not succeed I will be happy to knock on your door again.
Cheers,
IG
Hi IG,
That's interesting - if anything the zero down-time mod should reduce MySQL load since the heavy DELETE from the live table per feed is not required.
Perhaps more likely maybe an aggressive crawl perhaps? One thing I recommend to users with very large sites is a crawl-delay in robots.txt to slow down well behaved robots which may help - to do this add the following code the end of your robots.txt file:
User-Agent: *
Crawl-Delay: 2
However if you have just implemented the zero down-time mod in the last 3 days and it seems to coincide let me know and I'll look into that with you...
Cheers,
David.
