Pros and Cons of WP Plugin vs. External Scripts

Submitted by gregor on Wed, 2012-08-29 23:57 in

I have the external scripts working on a few WordPress sites and they work well. What are the pros and cons of the plugin?

Thanks,
Gregor

Hello Gregor,

Probably the main "pro" of migrating to the plugin would be to achieve shorter clean product URLs. Depending on how you're set-up at the moment, product links generated by the external scripts might be:

/comparison/product/Product-Name.html

...whereas via the plugin these would be reduced to

/product/Product-Name.html

Of course if your /comparison/ installation is well established this may not be desirable; otherwise the only other benefit is the total containment within WordPress of the Price Tapestry functionality which saves having to maintain your /comparison/ HTML files for a consistent look etc...

Cheers,
David.
