Advanced Search

Submitted by ostaveland on Thu, 2012-01-26 20:41 in

Hi David,

I am trying to make a function where users can sort their search results by typing in max and min price, and which also lists the different brands of the products returned from the users query to the server, in a list with checkboxes, making it possible for them to narrow their searchresults by brand and price if there is a large amount of results from their query. Do you have any particular posts i should read on this ? Got kind of confused searching around for it..

Also, i am not using fulltext search now, but is it possible to make a simple search within your original results from a query, which makes you able to search through the text of only the products returned from the users query?. So that users can input additional keywords which narrow their result more.

Can you point me in the right direction, it seems like this is not the first time this issue has been written about on the forum, but it was kind of confusing to find out what i need to do, or where i need to start. So i would appreciate a pointer!

Sry for the bad english!:)

Hello Olynx,

The sidebar filters modification is 90% of what you're looking for. I also have a version of this modification that presents the filter options as a list rather than drop-down boxes. I see you've been running Price Tapestry for several years now so rather than send you files based on the current distribution if you would like to email me your current

search.php
html/searchform.php
html/searchresults.php

I'll patch in the list version of the sidebar filters modification and add min/max price search options to your search form...

Cheers,
David.
