ean in description and to search by

Hi David

Looking to revamp sites to include ean numbers as search engines seem to like them, most affiliates include them, is there any way to include them in the description? also is there any way to search by ean also.

Hello Brent,

You could easily append the ean to the description using a Text After filter. Let's say it's in a field called "EAN" in the feed (check the sample data displayed on Feed Registration Step 1 to see the actual field name to use), then click Filters alongside the feed and then add a Text After filter to the Description field. In the text box on the configuration page for the filter, enter:

" %EAN%"

(without the quotes, but note the SPACE at the front which is important)

With that in place, re-import the feed to include the EAN in the description. If you then enable the search description feature (config.advanced.php 10 - don't forget to re-visit setup.php afterwards to build the index) EAN will then be included in search by virtue of being part of the description...

Cheers,
David.
