Feed upload - price 0 and link to image

Submitted by JasonG on Mon, 2011-11-14 14:44 in

Hi David

I have uplaoded a new feed for one of my merchants, as far as I can see most of the links work ok but there are a few where the price is £0.00 and the buy now link goes to the image URL. Any suggestions as to why?

I ahve checked the "register" fields are all correct when importing and the feed name is identical to what it was before

Zoo Plus is the merchant

Thanks
Stuart

Hi Stuart,

That is all indicative of the feed format auto-detection not picking up quoted text; which sounds like it may only be applied to some fields rather than all fields in the feed.

When this happens, rather than accept the auto-detected Format String on Feed Registration Step 1, instead select the correct format from the drop-down box, e.g.

Quoted Text - Header Row - Comma Separated

Then re-register and import the feed again and all products should then appear correctly. If you're still not sure, please could you let me know the filename of the feed and I'll download it from your /feeds/ folder to my test server and check it out further for you...

Cheers,
David.

Hi Stuart,

I think there is a transient issue with this feed; could you confirm for me the product name that you first identified the issue with (if you could re-post the product page URL that will be best)

Cheers,
David.

Hi Stuart,

I double checked for you and after re-registering the feed and selecting "Quoted Text - Header Row - Comma Separated" on Feed Registration Step 1 the feed imports correctly and specifically your example product displays correctly with the correct price and Buy URL.

David.

Thank you. thought that was what I selected but maybe I did not

How can I check files 1st so I know what to select on import?

The main network I use to get feeds uses CSV and ',' delimited as per the Zoo plus feed

Hi Stuart,

If in doubt, it's almost always safe to assume quoted text even if not specified or auto-detected. To auto-detect quoted text Price Tapestry looks for a " character in either line 1 or line 2 of the feed. You may however encounter a format, as this feed appears to be, in which a field is only quoted if it needs to be, in other words if it contains a character that is equivalent to the field separator (comma in this case). When this happens, the correct feed format will have to be provided up-front, from the select box on Feed Registration Step 1.

Cheers,
David.

Hi David

Apologioes to re-open this one, I have just added a new feed from "Webgains" and the prices are all £0.00

I used "Quoted Text - Header Row - Comma Seperated" as the option

I can email the file CSV file if it helps?

regards
Stuart

Hi Stuart,

If you'd like to post the URL of the installation and feed filename (I'll remove before publishing your reply) I'll download directly from your /feeds/ folder to my test server and check it out for you...

Cheers,
David.

Hi David

Thank you

{link saved}

Feed file name is "buyallmeans" without the ""

I have not yet added the merchant logo or done any mapping.

Stuart

Thanks Stuart,

I think what's happening is you may be using a "fast CSV" version of Magic Parser (which uses PHP's built-in fgetcsv() function) that doesn't support the quoted text style used by that feed.

To confirm this; if you could extract includes/MagicParser.php from the latest distribution; and with that in place re-register and import the feed it should import as expected...

Cheers,
David.

Thanks David

Do you mean actually delete the MagicParser.php?
