One of the feeds I use from Awin always reports over 200 entries in the Awin interface. But when I import the feed there is usually only 120 or so. Is there likely to be a character or something in some of the feeds that causes them to be excluded?
Thanks, TPH
Hi TPH,
Where some, but fewer products than expected are imported from a feed it is most likely down to duplication of product name, which must be unique per merchant. The first criteria for a product to be imported is valid Name, Buy URL and Price fields, and assuming they are fine, duplication prevention is the second most common reason.
This can happen with, for example, clothing feeds. Let's say a product had the name "Jumper", but there is another field in the feed called COLOUR. In order to make the product name unique, the colour must be combined with the Product Name field, which can be done using the Text Before or Text After filters as required. Continuing this example, a Text Before filter could be added to the Product Name field, containing
"%COLOUR% "
(without quotes, but note the SPACE at the end which is important! This will result in unique product names such as "Red Jumper", "Blue Jumper".
There is an alternative possibility and that is that an invalid character as you say is stopping the parser after 150 products but generally Affiliate Window feeds are excellent quality so this is least likely to be the problem. If you're still not sure, if you could email me a link to your site and the filename of the feed that is not importing fully I'll download it from your /feeds/ folder to my test server and check it out for you...
Cheers,
David.
