Different merchants group products into categories differently

Hi David,

How do you deal with the following issue?

Category mapping is currently based off category names the merchants choose - these names are mapped into a site standard by using the category mapping interface.

But, merchant M1's grouping of products into categories might not be the same as M2's grouping.

Merchant M1 might group products X,Y,Z under category C1; and products S,T,U under category C2.

Merchant M2 might group products X,Y under category C1; and products Z,S,T,U under category C2.

Whatever our category mappings are for these merchants, product Z will end up in two different categories.

Any solution?

Hi There,

It's a clash with no easy solution i'm afraid, other than manually editing feed M2 to change product Z to have C1. Note however that when you get through to the products page, the selection is based on product name alone; so even through when browsing category C2 you will see product Z as only available from 1 merchant (and therefore showing the "More Information" link), when you actually view the product you will see it from both M1 and M2.

Cheers,
David.
