hi david
i like a lot by reading all the posts regarding how to do this( auto ftp /unzip/import there feeds ) am struggling to get my head around this
but i did read somewhere that you were planning on developing an add on module to achieve this
are you still planning this or is there a script available that could help
best regards
dave
Hi David,
That would be excellent. I used ftpiggy a lot before, but i switched to automation scripts because i could only update on a weekly base. Are you planning to make a daily update possible? I have several shops on different configurations, some of them gives me headaches to automate the import as well. If it works with ftpiggy i will be using it again.
regards
B.
Bear with me regarding Daily automation - I need to get a handle on the bandwidth usage / costs etc.; but with bandwidth charges coming down all the time now it should certainly be a possibility.
Cheers,
David.

Hi David,
Apologies for re-opening this one. I've just been looking into automating my feeds - I'd like to automate downloading/installation so that they are updated every 24 hours. I read the Product Feed Download Automation Guide at http://www.pricetapestry.com/node/198 but have just discovered that my hosting provider does not allow SSH.
What are my best alternatives in this case (short of changing to a hosting company that does!)? Is FTPiggy still the best alternative - and/or is there now a way of doing this daily?
Many thanks in advance.
Hi,
The need for setting up an automation script is effectively superceeded now by the Automation Tool - check your Support Info page (/admin/ menu) to make sure that settings in config.advanced.php are OK; and then you can set-up jobs to be fetched / unzipped etc. from the Automation Tool; and then set-up a single CRON command pointing to /scripts/cron.php using the command lines worked out for you and displayed on the Support Info page...
Cheers,
David.

Hi Dave,
A lot of Price Tapestry users use my FTPiggy service which will fetch, unzip and upload feeds to your site on a weekly (or monthly) schedule!
www.FTPiggy.com
That would mean you only have to import manually after each scheduled FTP transfer. Something I'm planning for the new year is a new service based on FTPiggy but also connecting to your Price Tapestry installation and remotely running the import for you - meaning that full automation can be set-up without needing to create any CRON jobs or worrying about zip formats etc! Watch this space for more news on that...
Cheers,
David.
