Hi David,

First of all, thank you for this wonderful dev.

I would like to ask for products match and comparing the price. It's based on search_name or normalised_name or name ?

Let's say I have 3 products.

1. Winnie The Pooh - Soft Toy
2. Winnie The Pooh Soft Toy
3. Winnie The Pooh Plush Toy

They are basically the same problem but from different merchants, how do I actually match them so they fall under one comparison? after I have imported the products into the db.

Regards,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Comparison (GROUPing) is done by normalised_name, which removes certain characters designed to make product names "URL safe". Based on the way this works, the first 2 in your example should match (with the latest best version the original name is imported also to add keyword variety to the product page).

However, it's best to work on your product mapping in order to group together as well as possible where merchants use slightly different names for different products. In this scenario, you could create a master product Product Mapping product name of the one you wanted - e.g.

Winnie The Pooh Soft Toy

...and then in the alternatives box, enter:

Winnie The Pooh - Soft Toy
Winnie The Pooh Plush Toy

In this case it is probably best to enter the full words as there may be other Winne the Pooh toys that are not related, but Product Mapping is keyword based, so you only need enter enough words on any given alternative line to uniquely identify the product - for example where a model number is sufficient...

Cheers,
David.
