[Global Filters] AND - OR filters

Submitted by wdekreij on Sat, 2010-10-30 12:18 in

I'm not sure how to explain this properly, so I'll start with an example..

Let say my feeds have 26 categories (A - Z) and 10 brands (1 - 10). Those 10 brands are in all 26 categories. Using the "Drop record if not..." I want to select brand 5 from category F and brand 8 from category H. The closest I would be able to get right now, is to filter brand 5 & 8, as well as category F & H. However, 5F, 5H, 8F & 8H would get imported, instead of only 5F and 8H.

Would it be possible to enter multiple "rules" for one filter?

Regards!

Hi,

The following probably looks more complicated than it is, but should do the trick!

Firstly, I think you need to create a combination "categorybrand". The instructions for adding a new field are in this thread, which is now a straight forward process with the latest distribution.

With your new categorybrand field created, register it as just the category field to start with, and then add a Text After filter to the categorybrand field, and in the box on the configuration page enter " %BRAND%" (without quotes, and where BRAND is the exact field name of the field registered as the brand in your feed.

With that in place, you can then use Drop Record If Not RegExp to drop the record based on the categorybrand field using the following rule:

(F 5|H 8)

You can add more rules as required between the brackets, pipe separated.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
David.
