Hi,

Problems with certain characters being displayed incorrectly is more likely down to the $config_charset setting of your site (line 4 in config.php) rather than a problem in the feed.

The first thing to do is to view a page on your site with incorrect characters being displayed and then use your web browser's View > Character Encoding menu to swap between UTF-8 and ISO-8859-1 and see if either / other setting causes the characters to display correctly. If that works, it may only be necessary to change your setting for $config_charset to the one that works.

However, it may be the case you have to consider mixing feeds of different character sets. This might be necessary if, for example, when you change the Character Encoding in your browser the problem characters are then correct, but then other characters go wrong!

In this instance, the thing to do is have your $config_charset match the character encoding of the majority of your feeds; and for those that are in the alternative character set add either a UTF8 Encode (ISO-8859-1 > UTF-8) or UTF8 Decode (UTF-8 > ISO-8859-1) filter to the Product Name and Description fields of the problem feed. Re-import and all characters should then be displayed correctly...

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
David.
