Hi!
Just installed this great software on my server, but I'm having some problems. I surfed about 20 pages now and I don't see anywhere the Compare link, just the More information link :(
For example, when I do a iPhone 3g search I get links like this:
#1 Apple iPhone 16 GB 3GS Black
#2 Apple iPhone 32 GB 3GS Black
#3 T-Mobile i-1000 1 jaar Apple iPhone 3GS 16GB
#4 T-Mobile i-1000 1 jaar Apple iPhone 3GS 32GB
What should happen is that result #1 is grouped with result #3 and result #2 should be grouped with result #4. Something like SQL: LIKE %iPhone 3GS 16GB%...
Anyone has any solution how I can group automatically as much as possible products? I have a HUGE database and I can't group everything by hand :(
Thanks, Johan
Hi Johan,
Thank you for your comments and welcome to the forum!
I think from subsequent posts you may have gone some way towards solving your problem already, but for completeness, the scenario that you are describing is what the Product Mapping feature (in combination with Filters that I see that you have already discovered!) are designed to solve.
Where different merchants for the same product use slightly different product names you can use a combination of filters and the Product Mapping feature (/admin/ menu) to make sure that the same product name is used across your different merchants.
Filters are always applied before Product Mapping, so where you have used filters to remove, as in your previous example, a brand name from a generic product name, it is the remaining product name that you would subsequently use within Product Mapping to join together product names between merchants.
The documentation for this feature is on the following page:

Hope this helps!
Cheers,
David.
