Excuse me if I am being a bit thick....but I am unable to see a simple solution to a problem that other people must have experienced. I have an .xml feed from a merchant and they have used their name in a lot of the product descriptions. Is there any easy way for me to replace the merchants name with my site name that isn't too technically demanding ? There is no way I could be described as a coder so please be gentle with me if you have a solution, if its too much for someone of my ability to take on then please also point this out as well...

Sure - you can use the Search and Replace filter.
Alongside the feed in your /admin/ home page, click Filters. Then add a new "Search and Replace" filter to the Description field. On the configuration page for the filter, enter the merchant's name in the Search box, and whatever you want to replace it in the Replace box. Save the filter, and re-import the feed to apply the changes.
