Items appearing in different results despite being the same item.

I had some case sensitivity issues earlier this evening but I'm also having some product matching issues as follows.

I have a product called...
Air-Powered Hydraulic Motorcycle & Atv Work Station
and
Air-Powered Hydraulic Motorcycle / Atv Work Station

These are from 2 different merchants and obviously the same thing but they don't price compare, they are each separate listings. I used the search term "Atv Work Station" to find them. Can you help me figure out why they both didn't appear in one "products" page so that people could compare the two prices?

Hi,

Product names must match completely to be compared (it really is the only way it can work without matching by SKU or EAN for example, but that information isn't regularly available in affiliate product feeds).

However, this is the situation that the Product Mapping feature is designed for. Browse to /admin/ on your site, and then click Product Mapping. Create a new product name, for example

Air Powered Hydraulic Motorcycle and ATV Work Station

And then in the alternatives box, simply enter on one line the main keywords that appear in both versions of that product name, for example

Hydraulic Motorcycle ATV Work Station

Then re-import the two feeds, and both version should then appear compared as "Air Powered Hydraulic Motorcycle and ATV Work Station".

Cheers,
David.
