Display more than one identical product per merchant

Submitted by paddyman on Wed, 2010-02-10 12:42 in

Hi David,

This is a confusing one !! Don't know how to word it any better !!

I have a small site with only a few products. Some products in the feeds have identical product names so have added the product ID to the name using the text after filter. I then product map these names to get my preferred product name. These products are similar and only differ in release date (i.e Autumn/Winter 09 & Spring/Summer 10)

So if for example after creating a product map for "Product A", containing "Product A 123" and "Product A 1234", is there anyway I can have "Product A" being displayed twice in the prices table for that one merchant.

Hope this makes sense :)

Cheers

Adrian

Hi Adrian,

Is "Release Date" available (or can be) as a field in the feeds?

Cheers,
David.

Hi David,

No mention of release date in the field. Products (shoes) have the exact same titles, but slightly differ from season to season. Therefore when import with the product and ID using the text after filter, 2 products are imported. But, when I product map, only one product for that merchant is being shown, along what all of the other merchants who have that product.

Hi Adrian,

The product mapping will be removing the resolved products; so perhaps one option is to leave them imported with the ID field at the end; but then add code where necessary to remove them as display time.

If that sounds like a possibility, could you perhaps import in that way (i.e. no Product Mapping) and then email me a link to the site and I'll have a look at how they are displayed and how to go about suppressing the IDs...

Cheers,
David.

Hi David,

The product mapping without displaying ID is more important to me than this request, so will leave as is.

Thanks for your time.
