php and mysql configuration

Submitted by davidn on Sun, 2009-12-27 19:13 in

Hi David, I thought whether you can show us the best PHP and MySQL configuration files for PT server, I mean the phpinfo() setting and my.cnf features for the best performance of your scripts if there are some "tuning" possibilities that can be made for better performance and more stability/speed/integrity. Maybe the configuration of your test-server.

For example, I had used the default configuration since the start of december but then every 3rd day (or something like that) went the server stucked with mysql error "too many connections" and had to be restarted, so I had to change some settings. But it would be easier to use configuration that has been already tested instead of just trying.

Thanks and of course good luck and many satisfied customers in 2010:-)

Hi David,

Thanks for your comments. If you've not yet come across it; check out the following thread for information about configuration for very large sites...

Cheers,
David.

Hi, I have read that one, but there is only two parameters to set up and only MySQL settings, not PHP which is imho also very important to be set up not only correctly but as correct as possible:-) For example, max connections, timeouts and so on...

Hello David,

Thanks - bear with me and i'll research and post a topic on this. It's not something that crops up too often as the majority of users are running Price Tapestry on shared hosting accounts with little or no control over PHP and MySQL configuration - which is partly the reason why I have included things like the Slow Import Tool in the new distribution to overcome, for example, the 30 second maximum script execution time setting.

I'll look into it and get back to you...

Cheers,
David.
