I have noticed that the "Compare Prices" only takes effect if one or more merchants have the same "Product Name" for an item.
I have been playing around with "Product Mapping" to achieve similar results.
Is there an easier way to achieve this?

For true comparison, Product Mapping is what you need to use - but don't forget that it is keyword based, so you only need to enter sufficient keywords in the alternatives box to identify all different versions of a product; for example if there is a model number that is sufficient to link identical products you could just enter that on its own as an alternative and any product with that model number in the name will be mapped to the master product name given...
