hi david.
Is it possible to implement a more robust cache for the whole site? I was adviced by an admin on one webhost that implementing a cache for the whole site is best than constantly making pages on the fly. I've had too many webhosts complaining about web server resource usage and i cant move in/out of webhosts that cant accomodate my PT sites.
I even thought of making a pure HTML version of my sites but that's too far and cumbersome :) and my dynamic enhancements would have to suffer.
For other PT owners/webmasters. Please share tips and advice on how to optimize our PT sites.
Thanks!
Hi Atman,
It sounds like you may be pushing the database with too many products on shared hosting accounts. There is lots of information regarding MySQL configuration for running very large Price Tapestry sites on dedicated servers where you have full control over the configuration...

Otherwise; would it be worth considering the separate category installations method that would give you an effective category hierarchy within your site as described in this thread...

Further still, make sure that robots are restricted to the areas of your site that you really want indexing, this should reduce server load considerably if you are being crawled aggressively - have a look at the robots.txt on the demo site for an idea of what to exclude...
