As the merchant name is used in search engine friendly URLs, the & character is prevented by default in order to ensure that URLs are perfectly safe, and also appear as elegant as possible. In this case, I would suggest using the word "and", registering the merchant as: "HP Home and Home Office Store".
Alternatively, if you aren't using clean URLs ($config_useRewrite = false in your config.php), it would be safe to enable the & character; so let me know if you'd like to do that and I'll talk you through the steps...
