MySQL server needed restarting every day

Submitted by Mark on Wed, 2009-06-17 16:30 in

I'm (still) having a lot of problems with the MySQL server on my dedicated server needed restarting every day since I get the full PT database running and a lot of (hung?) processes being found. Is there anything we can do to trap the errors?

Cheers,
David.

Hi Mark,

It should exist as /etc/my.cnf

If it doesn't exist there, no bad thing - just let me know - it means there is lots of scope for tweaking of your MySQL config based on the number of products you are working with.

It's worth pointing out that whilst the Price Tapestry script itself does not impose any limit on the number of products that can be supported, ultimately there has to be a limit that is dictated by the capabilities of the hardware on which PHP / Apache / MySQL is running on...

Cheers,
David.

Hi Mark,

Have a good look through the following thread...

http://www.pricetapestry.com/node/732

There's a discussion there between a couple of users working with 1M+ products and how best to configure MySQL to handle such a large database / index...
