Ajax Star Rating

Hope all is well.

I've been asked whether it is possible to replace the existing stars in the rating system with an Ajax star rating system similar to this one

That way, the rating block would display the current rating as well as allow new votes. Also, the current select box option on the actual ratings page could be amended to a pictorial representation rather than a drop down list.

I'm not so sure it's as straight forward as it first sounds or whether it's actually possible :-) . More or less wondering whether you've done this before or if any other forum readers have achieved this?
