New Search External products not showing

Submitted by shabbysheep on Fri, 2009-06-05 13:07 in

Hi,

I have just started to work on my price comparison site (after again a few months off) to find that any new products I add to my Products Mapping lists do not appear on my site. Existing items still show fine (and can be deleted), it's just new additions from freshly uploaded feeds do not show.

I am only using Prices External to give prices on my web pages beneath placed images and am non-plussed as to what the problem is. I think the feeds are OK, any ideas where the problem may be?

Many thanks,

shabbysheep

Hi,

Have you re-imported any feeds affected by the new product mappings? They are only applied during import when mapped names are imported with the master product name...

Cheers,
David.

Hi David,

trust you're well.

Yes, I re-import the affected feeds. I have tried deleting an item in my Product List at the same time as adding a new one - the old one is deleted, but the new one doesn't appear. I guess this means PricesExternal is working OK. I can only think it is a fault with the new feeds - but they seem to register fine.

Hi,

If I understand correctly then, after importing your are still finding a product in the database that you would have expected to have been mapped to something else..

If this is the case, it can sometimes be down to white space on the product name. First make sure that you have copied the name exactly as it is imported into the alternatives box on the configuration page for the master product name you wish to map it to. I normally do this by copy & pasting the name from the product page itself.

If that doesn't help, next try adding a Trim filter to the product name field of the feed that contains the product name that is not mapping correctly - that should do the the trick.

Finally, if that doesn't work - if you could email me a link to your site, any password required for the admin area, the the details of the mapping that isn't working as expected i'll take a look for you!

Cheers,
David.

Thanks David,

I do copy and paste, and the Trim filter hasn't worked. I'll send you a mail.

Speak soon,

Hi David,

In my eagerness to get my .csv product mapping imported (as .txt) I seem to have made the Product Mapping / Existing Products list to be ALL the alternative names to the product. Doh! Is there any way to clear the list (I have tried a blank productmapping.txt file to no avail)? Nothing I import (via pmimport.php) seems to have any effect.

Sorry to bother you, I've been too keen as usual.

PS: I have also emailed a .csv file and productmapping.txt file to you.
