Filtering a feed

Submitted by jvd88 on Wed, 2009-04-15 08:21 in

Hi,

How can i filter a feed and make subcategories ? (can this be done afterwards, or only in the register part)

I have for instance a complete feed from a electronic company.
I want to filter out the dishwashers for instance.
And get them into the category household/dishwashers
Preferably categorised on brand also.

With regards,

joep

Hi Joep,

As the script doesn't support a category hierarchy as such (this is a concious decision - there just isn't the quality of data available to support it), what you could do is use Category Mapping (top menu, in /admin/ ) to create a new master category of "Household Dishwashers". Then, on the configuration page, you can add "Dishwashers" to the list of categories you wish to have mapped to the master category name... Remember that mappings are not applied completely until all affected feeds have been imported again...

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
David.

Hi David,

Okay. And then, when i register again, does the program automaticaly put camera's in the right category ?
The feed has a lot of products, also non camera.

Hi Joep,

Basically yes - but you don't have to register again, only import!

Cheers,
David.
