I retrieved and uploaded an xml datafeed for bored of the high street, but when I imported it there were only 32 products. On querying this I was advised that there should in fact be 834. I retrieved it again, ensuring I had checked full database. But it still only gave me 32. So I tried the csv datafeed. After importing it showed only 778 products and when I looked at them half the images weren't showing.
I looked at the csv file that I had retrieved and there were definitely 834 products in it, plus they all had an image url.
Comparing the size of the file on my server to my local - both were identical sizes.
I just tried to import the csv again and I get the box asking me to save or open the php file. It is not a huge datafeed and I have imported larger ones. My server is set to run php for 1800 - it certainly wasn't running for that time before being asked to save the file.
#1 - that was my first thought, I registered it again and was very careful. I then downloaded the feed again and tried that.

Hi Jill,
I was just able to register and import your feed with 834 products. I registered using:
Product Name: PRODUCTNAME
Description: PRODUCTDESCRIPTION
Image URL: IMAGEURL
Buy URL: AFFILIATEURL
Price: PRODUCTPRICE
Could you try registration again and confirm that you are using the same details...
Cheers,
David.
Yep, I have tried a dozen times. The XML will only import 32 products. The CSV 700 odd (I deleted it so can't remember exact number), but it is really the xml that I would rather work with

Hello Jill,
Have you added any filters to this feed; and are there any modifications to includes/admin.php that you have incorporated into this site?
Cheers,
David.
Nope - no filters or anything, just a straight register and import

Hello Jill,
I'm sure it's not a timeout problem because they all imported in much less than 30 seconds on my test server; but just to confirm - after importing this feed does it return to the admin home page automatically (indicating that it all finished "normally")?
Cheers,
David.
Yes, it returns to admin and all looks as though it imported as normal. I only found out because I complained that there were only 32 products!

I have added another paid on results feed - and that is the same. This time it says there are just 8 products

Hi Jill,
Could you send me a link to the site / admin area so I can take a look, and perhaps also a copy of your includes/admin.php...
Cheers,
David.
Hi Jill,
Where fewer products than expected are imported, it is normally a case of either;
1) Incorrect field names registered as the required fields - for example with XML feeds it is sometimes easy to mistake the record element "PRODUCT" as the Product Name field when in fact it is "PRODUCTNAME" that should be registered.
2) Invalid data in one or more of the required fields. If the Product Name, Buy URL or Price are not valid the product would not be imported.
3) Duplicate product names. Only the first product of the same name is imported. In some cases - particularly with mobile phone or clothing feeds there are other fields that differentiate the product name - have a look at this recent thread for more info: http://www.pricetapestry.com/node/2405
If you're still not able to see all products, if you could drop me an email with a link to your site and the filename of the feed i'll then download it from your /feeds/ directory to my test server and check it out for you...
Cheers,
David.
