Hello David
I've been checking what people have been searching for on my site and have noticed the following are been searched for and no results found
word1word2 (person has forgot to add a space imbetween the words.)
word1s (person has added an s at the end of the search word)
Both result in no results being found.
Finally people have also been searching for www.word1word2.co.uk (is there a way of removing the www. & .co.uk )
Is there a way of modifying the search script to capture both search events?
Thanks very much
Mally
Hi Mally,
The second 2 cases are easily fixed - and the plural issue has come up before. The code to deal with that is in this thread:
http://www.pricetapestry.com/node/617
However, that refers to an older version of search.php - if you could email me your current version i'll patch that modification in for you; and also add code to search & replace "www." and ".co.uk" and ".com" also.
It is much harder to deal with the case in which a space has been missed out as it is almost impossible to tell where the space should have been - but maybe it's the case that the user would realise their mistake when no results are shown and search again with the correct query...
Cheers,
David.
