Hello everyone, I am on the finishing fazes of my first Price Tapestry website and I must say that from all of the scripts out there (free and paid), Price Tapestry is one of the finest examples! If you are thinking of purchasing it - Do It! It is well worth the money!
Ok back to the subject:
Price Tapestry has a very minimal build-in search functionality, I mean if you for instance search for "car" you will get "car battery", "car keys", "car wheels" and loads of other stuff when all you wanted to actually see is a vehicle!
It will be hard to compete with the competition sites that have from what it looks like to me a complete "search engine functionality" with spellchecks, product relevancy, etc.
So my question is - Did anyone have an idea of integrating a third party php search engine with Price Tapestry to overcome those problems? and if yes that Which one?
Thanks.
Pasha
Hello Pasha,
One user has looked at integrating Lucene, which is a general purpose full text index supporting far more of the type of features you describe that MySQL's built in full text method...
Cheers,
David.
