Is Excel the best for parsing data feeds if you need to insert affiliate #'s in the middle of URL's?

Is excel the standard way to parse and edit data feeds? Are there any products for doing this out there?

Thanks Steve

Hi Steve,

You should be able to do this using the filters; in particular "Search and Replace", or "Text After" are the ones commonly used to add your Affiliate URL when it does not already exist.

What are the changes you need to make? If you can post an example I can let you know which filters to use and how to configure them...

Cheers,
David.

This is a typical change:

www.samedaymusic.com/mc--/product--AAHXONE32

to

www.samedaymusic.com/mc--635009/product--AAHXONE32

where I'm adding my affiliate ID.

Thanks David

In that example, a Search and Replace filter would do the trick.

From the admin home page, click "Filters" alongside the required feed; and then on the New Filter form choose "Search and Replace" and "Buy URL" as the field.

Then, on the configuration page for the new filter; enter "--" as the "Search" value, and "--635009" as the "Replace" value. The next time you import that feed the Buy URL will be modified as per the new filter...

Hope this helps!
David.
