Problems with buy.at feeds

Submitted by tbbd2007 on Sat, 2008-03-15 18:06 in

David,

I am having problems with a lot of the buy.at feeds and am not sure whether it's a problem with their feeds or not. I can send you the files buy e-mail if you need them. Some only get as far as showing 'xml|products/' but can't seem to find any data beyond that, even if I manually add 'product/'. Some go through the registration process but when imported there are no products there.

Kind regards

Stephen

Hello Stephen,

The main thing is to check that they contain products. If the auto-detection picked out xml|PRODUCTS/ that would indicate that there are no PRODUCT records present, which could happen if, for example, there was a transient error during creation of the feed(s).

If they look OK, then sure - if you could email me a link to one of the feeds that isn't working on your server (a link to the file in your /feeds/ directory) i'll download it to my test server and take a look...

Cheers,
David.

Hi David, Stephen,
I use Buy.at feeds in Price Tapestry, but tend to download them as uncompressed CSV files from the Buy.at admin interface instead of XML, as I often need to 'tweak' their feed before importing and find it easier to view them in Excel.

The CSV files then import easily into PT.

Cheers,
Steph.

Hi Stephen,

This may be caused by your data feed files having spaces in them. For instance, 'MobilePhones.xml' will be OK, whereas, 'Mobile Phones.xml' will cause the same problems as you describe.

Steph,

Thanks for that, but as I currently have over 800 merchants and over 4,000,000 products on my site I don't want to be going and manually changing feeds myself.

Kind regards

Stephen

Keeop,

Thanks for the comment. I understand that, see previous post. I have successfully downloaded all but 7 or 8 feeds and David is having a look at the feeds for me and I have contacted buy.at as well to check from their end.

Kind regards

Stephen

Hi Jonny,

We discovered that one of the feeds causing a problem had an invalid element name, for example "<Event Name>" (spaces are not valid XML within an element name). This has been advised to Buy.at so it should be resolved soon...

Cheers,
David.
