Pulling the XML Feed Live

Submitted by sbedigital on Sat, 2008-02-02 21:38 in

Hi Dave,

Is there any way your script to be modified to pull the xml feed live then pass all matching field populate the search results?

For example if a visitor search for SONY DVD PLAYERS then your script pulls the Amazon XML directly and shows XXXX amount of results based on SONY+DVD+PLAYERS

Reason for this is, I have several merchants that supplies their XML feed on the fly and I would like integrate these in my current TP installation.

Hi,

Remember that with Price Tapestry you also have Magic Parser, and there is an example script on the Magic Parser website for doing just that - using the Amazon API. Similar techniques can be used with any other XML API provider, and integrating into Price Tapestry should be straight forward; as on both search results and product pages you always have access to the $q variable, which contains the search term or product name! Here's the link...
