Create my own datafeeds

Submitted by jonny5 on Sun, 2008-01-13 21:12 in

Hi David.

Im looking at using pricetapestry for a new site , the idea is I create the datafeeds myself so I have unique content (limited products)

now im not quite sure how to go about creating the feeds, can I just create a excel file , so all values are in colums with a header for each colum and then convert that file to a datafeed?
or should I create the feed another way? I just want it as simple as possible. I have tried saving as CSV but the file doesnt register properly in the admin area

Is this possible

Hi Jonny,

The easiest format to create is "Pipe Separated Values" - you can do it with a text editor; or using Excel's export to CSV functionality but by configuring the output format rather than just accepting the default values. You want to enter PIPE as the field separated, and select "None" for the quote delimiter (I think the actual terminology varies with version of Excel).

There is an example and more info in this thread:

Cheers,
David.
