The message you are seeing implies that the account you have setup to access the database (www-data) does not have access (or more likely doesn't exist). To resolve this, check your datbase settings in config.php, and to test the easiest thing to do is run /setup.php.
As you say you have upgraded MySQL, it looks like it has not kept the same user accounts as your previous version, so to resolve this you either need to create a new database user called www-data (and NO password) ~OR~ change your settings to a user account that does exist in your new MySQL installation.
Although there is no local serach tool, the support forum is very well indexed by Google and you can find a site-search box on the main forum page...
