I want to add price tapestry to an existing site and I've got a few questions. If you could help me out that would be great.
The current site is made from static html pages but the host does support php and mysql. How easy would it be to incorporate the price comparison stuff into this kind of site?
I only want to display product categories that are relevant to the site for example "Audio Visual Equipment". How easy is it to filter the feeds like this?
Also, I want to deal with all the big companies (uk based -like dixons, currys comet etc.) as well as smaller retailers. I haven't signed up with an affiliate network yet. Who'd be the best one to go with considering that I need all the big uk electrical retailers?
Thanks in advance
Art
All the merchants you mentioned are with affiliate window. Awin is a brilliant network, and datafeed organisation is the best in the market.
Thanks for the quick reply. Sounds exactly what I need.
Cheers

Hi Art,
With regards to incorporation of Price Tapestry into an existing static HTML site, how much or how little you integrate really depends on your level of PHP programming knowledge and how much you want to get involved with modifying the code.
At it simplest, you could install Price Tapestry into a sub-directory of your site, and then create a search form on your existing (static) homepage. This is very easy to do. Simply browse to your comparison site sub-directory, and do a View > Source on the HTML created by Price Tapestry and simply copy the HTML for the search form, and paste it into your existing home page.
Regarding limitation of the categories imported - yes you can do this quite easily. There is a modification described in the following thread: http://www.pricetapestry.com/node/740
This mod adds a filter to your site that allows you to drop records if a field does not contain certain values. You simply add this filter to the CATEGORY field, and list the categories that you want imported within brackets, separated by the | character, for example:
(HiFi|Home Entertainment|Audio Visual Equipment)
If you buy the script and are not sure how to add this filter, just give me a shout and i'll make the changes for you and send you a version of the filter file with this filter ready to go.
Finally, with regards to UK affiliate networks, the big names you mention are with Affiliate Window as I have them on the Price Tapestry demo site. The other big network of course is TradeDoubler who also have plenty of big name stores!
Hope this helps!
Cheers,
David.
