Licencing Issues While Working around the "Importing Large Feeds Problem"?

Hi,

I've seen that others are having a similar problem where large feeds fail to import, likely because the server has a limit on the time a script can run. I found a workaround but wonder if there are licencing problems with it?

I noticed that my test machine could import 11000+ items in about 2 and a half minutes, whereas the server we're running publicly, fails after 30 seconds or so. So, I set the public server to allow my development machine (with static IP address) access to the mysql database. Then I pointed my local development copy of the website to the remote database instead of the local database. This has worked (although it actually took 30 minutes to register the entire feed!)

What I think I'd like to do is have the admin folder running on my local machine as a seperate website (alongside the full development website), that interacts with the database remotely. I think this would mean i could also store the feeds locally, and not need to copy them to the server before registering them, as the act of registering them remotely stuffs the data straight in the database. Would I be allowed to do this or as I would have a small chunk running elsewhere, would I technically require another licence?

Cheers,

Mike

Hi Mike,

That's fine - sounds like a good solution!

Cheers,
