Hi Henk,

Thank you for your comments!

I think you are talking about the ability to have an admin screen from where you can enter the URL of a feed and automatically download that into your site (like the demo script on Magic Parser does).

I can supply code to do this; however it would be necessary for you to make your /feeds/ directory writable by PHP / Apache on your web server.

The reason I have not included this functionality in the distribution is because it does make the installation less straight forward than it is at present; and there are also other issues that come from remote retrieval of URLs, in particular the scenario in which authentication is required by the remote server; resulting in a page of HTML being downloaded rather than the feed.

Let me know if you are able to make a writable /feeds/ directory, and seeing as a number of users have now requested this feature i'll post some example code for creating a remote fetching script as an add-on to the Price Tapestry distribution.

Cheers,
David.

Hi Henk,

Thanks for that - i'll produce a "plugin" that will enable remote fetching of a feed.

Hiya,

I'm going to create a plugins section, which will probably have a tab along the top; as i've got a few enhancements which I don't want to include in the basic distribution in order to keep things simple.

Look out for it towards the middle of next week; although if you want to drop me an email (reply to your Magic Parser registration code email) i'll let you know as soon as it's ready.

Cheers,
David.
